With the Innovation Leader of the Year award, Innovationsledarna, RISE och Vinnova, wants to inspire, draw attention to and make visible innovation leaders (individuals) who have created ability and value, and contributed to clarifying and building the profession.

Criteria for nomination - ability and value
1. Contributed to building the ability to systematically lead and organize innovation work in one organization or several organizations in collaboration. The person has, for example, worked with: facilitation, development of innovation strategy, vision and mission, built innovation organization, processes, etc.
2. Contributed to realizing and scaling value from innovations. The person has clearly contributed to going from intention to value. Value creation can consist of new organizational innovations, as well as product, service and business development or value that is created in a larger societal and systems perspective. As a further example, long-term value can be created through progress in sustainability and linked to the global sustainability goals.
Who can be nominated?
Employees in all types of organizations that meet the criteria.
A jury of at least five people who are representative of the target groups, companies, public sector makes a selection of the nominees, who are then interviewed (at least 3 nominees), and then finally vote on which candidate will be Innovation Leader of the Year. Honorable mention for people who have influenced system-wide and contributed to clarifying and building the profession.
How is the nomination done?
Everyone can nominate someone they think qualifies for the award. The minimum is then a motivation and an email address to the person you nominate and that the nominee can provide at least one contact person who can contribute to giving the jury a greater context around the individual's actions in innovation management.
Individuals can also nominate themselves, but in that case must be able to point to a contact person who can contribute to giving the jury a larger context and be able to confirm the individual's actions in innovation management. Therefore, an e-mail address to e.g. a colleague, manager or other person is attached to the nomination.
