New thematic group

Innovation management in the public sector

Innovationsledarna is a non-profit association with the purpose of driving issues that are common to professional innovation leaders in all types of companies and organizations in Sweden.

Now we are launching thematic groups and therefore wish to welcome you to participate in our thematic meeting group for innovation leaders in the public sector. The idea is to gather in smaller groups of 10-15 members and discuss issues related to a specific topic where members share knowledge and practices and are facilitated by one or more group members. Our goal is to gather the group 3-4 times in a year and then share the key insights with all members.

As a group member you have the opportunity to contribute questions that you want to raise in the group, for example:

What is the goal of innovation work in public activities? Specifically in your business?
How does private and public sector differ? What important conclusions do we draw from it?
Is the type of innovation work different?
Product Innovation vs Business Model Innovation?
How do you create a sustainable innovation function in a public organization?
How do you establish mandates, governance, and indicators for innovation?
How to ensure successful delivery of innovation projects to the line organization?
How to establish an effective innovation strategy in line with the overall goals of the organization?
How to build an innovation management system throughout the organization?

For who?

This group is right for you if you address any of these or related challenges, want inspiration and good practices from other members and try to expand your professional network. Group members should have clear responsibility for innovation management in a public organization, which usually works more or less full time and has a central or leading position; or other organization (such as academy or consultant) who have extensive experience in innovation in / against the public sector.

The group will initially be facilitated by Stefan Vlachos (Karolinska University Hospital) plus any additional. We are planning a half-day meeting in 2017 and two in spring 2018. A date will be set when we have gathered enough participants.

Report your interest to Stefan Vlachos as soon as possible, and please ask any colleague who you think might be interested. Participation in the group is free but requires membership of the Innovationsledarna.
